Richard Box
Richard Box makes amazing things from florescent tubes. For example, this array of tubes beneath a high-voltage pylon. It works through a process called 'capacitive coupling', which I've been exploring in recent work.
Terence McKenna
I've recently discovered the work of Terence McKenna. He's a great speaker and I'm sure he was a genius. RIP.
Perpetual Storytelling Apparatus
Ingenious. An X Y plotter is something I want in my life.

ABANDONED ART
100 artworks created using Processing by Matt Pearson. Most of the applications feature a 'source code' link so you can see the logic behind them. Pearson has written a book titled 'Generative Art - A Practicle Guide using Processing', which is to be released in the new year. Definitely one for the wish list.

Wolfram Alpha
Wolfram Alpha is amazing! You can use it to find and compute all kinds of data, from cellula automata (pictured) to historical and geographical data. It will also compare different data and make nice visulals to represent the data for you.

TECHNOCALYPS
Give this 3 part documentary a chance - low budget but insightful and thought provoking, it deals with the future of our technology and humanity.
Part 1 - TransHuman
Part 2 - Preparing for the Singularity
Part 3 - The Digital Messiah

OLCDs
Think of the possibilities! I’ve already began taking apart old LCDs in an attempt to figure out what makes them tick, and I’m now developing a project which uses layered LCDs and analogue inputs to make the thing interactive. Check the website for updates on this – I should imagine it’ll take some time to complete though.
Striking similarity to a shot from Kubick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. Imagine a headpiece or mask made from this stuff. It’s the future!

VIDEO: THE NEW WAVE
Early 70s documentary about the then new art form of video. I put all the parts into a youtube playlist so the world can view the whole thing with just one click!
CELLULAR AUTOMATA LABORATORY
A wealth of interesting cellular automata generation info that I need to read thoroughly. Particularly nice text automata. From SJSU Department of Computer Science.

CELLULAR AUTOMATA SYNTH
The best cellular automata synth I've ever seen! built by Univac. I want to build a similar machine with analouge inputs that change the automata but with other static and moving images interacting with it. similar to this video i made a while ago, but with interaction manipulating the images:

RADICAL SOFTWARE
Radical Software was a magazine devoted to video in the early 70s. Hard to get a hold of now no doubt, but wait! We can browse the whole catalouge for free online here!
WORLD OF PARKER
An interesting idea using two projectors and interference. I'd like to develop the idea using moving images on two projectors. Veiw page here
MATTHIAS WANDEL
Ignore the boring look of Matthias Wandel's website. Some of the projects he has developed are top notch, for example, the scanner he converted into a good quality digital camera. He also makes a mean marble-run and cannon!
STEVE BECK
Check out Steve Beck's website. He's made a lot of interesting work. I particularly like the Toys and Games section.
TIM HUNKIN
I think Tim Hunkin is a bit of a genius. Take a look at these early examples of his work, the first of which he made at the age of 11! He also made a pretty good documentary series called 'The Secret Life of Machines'.
VIDEO SYNTHISIZERS
Some nice examples of video synthisizers.
MONITOR HACKS
I started this playlist to archive some of the different things people are doing with old computer monitors and VGA inputs.
ARDUINO
This is an Arduino playlist which I put together to remind me of some of the exciting things that the Arduino can help one accomplish with bits of hardware. These are mostly LCD examples as that is what I've been tinkering with recently, but this playlist will begin to fill with all sorts of other interesting examples.
CELLULAR AUTOMATA
A Youtube playlist of some of my favorite examples of Cellular Automata. I've been in love with these things since reading Stephen Wolfram's ' A New Kind of Science', which I've just seen is now available to browse for free from Wolfram's website! I got the book from a charity shop a couple of years ago for £8. Best buy ever!
